Where it started.
Before strategy, before mobility, there was leather. The first SHPERKA product was a hand-finished bag, made in Slovakia, photographed in Žilina in 2019.

The standard hasn't changed.
Every SHPERKA decision since — choosing which client to take, which brand to build, which problem to solve — traces back to the discipline of stitching a bag well. Leather doesn't care about your strategy deck. A misaligned stitch is visible at 30 cm, no matter how confident the brand voice.
That standard, internalized through hundreds of hours at a sewing table, is what we now bring to a procurement specification or a brand positioning document. The medium changes; the standard does not.
A small, deliberate edition.
The 2019 Žilina collection is still our reference for what the brand stands for: confidence without volume, craft without ostentation. The lookbook was shot in a single weekend on Žilina's old-town cobblestones, with friends and friends-of-friends as models, in coats and brogues that belonged to the photographer's grandfather.
The atelier produces in small editions on commission. The waitlist is informal, and we like it that way.
Vegetable-tanned. Italian. Patient.
Every leather used in the Žilina collection was vegetable-tanned in Tuscany, sourced through a single supplier in Santa Croce sull'Arno who supplies a small group of European leather goods houses.
Vegetable tanning is slower (weeks, not hours), more expensive (factor of three), and produces hides that age in public — every scuff, every patina, every memory of a dinner spilled on it becomes part of the object. We didn't pick it because it was fashionable. We picked it because it tells the truth.
Quiet, on commission.
The atelier still operates, on commission, for a small number of returning clients. We don't run a public e-shop. We don't ship to ten countries. We don't do flash sales.
If you want a SHPERKA bag, you write to shop@shperka.eu, we have a conversation, you tell us what you want it for, we tell you what we'd recommend and what we wouldn't, and six to eight weeks later something arrives that we'd be willing to put our name on.
The legend matters more than the line.
Most studios bury their origins. We don't. The leather goods atelier is the reason every other vertical works — because it is the reason we know what "good" feels like in the hand, what "finished" looks like at a stitch, what "enough" sounds like in a brief.
The atelier is small. It will stay small. And the standard it set will continue to be the standard the rest of the studio is held to.
From shperka.com to shperka.eu.
SHPERKA was founded in 2018 by Tomáš Šperka as a leather atelier, originally published at shperka.com. Our early leather work was featured in Forbes and Hospodárske noviny, among other Slovak and international press. Those articles still live on the web — they are about us.
In 2024 the studio expanded beyond leather into mobility (MOVANTI), AI, and B2B operations advisory, and consolidated everything under a single home: shperka.eu. The leather atelier did not go away — it continues here, under the Heritage vertical, on commission. Same hands, same standard, same name. Only the domain and the scope changed.
If you found us through a story written about the original atelier: welcome back. You are in the right place.
“We don't scale. We compound.”
